PETER DE RIDDER (1946 - )

Zakenman en zeiler. Was eigenaar van de papiergroothandel Riem en Honig maar belangrijker dan dat was zijn passie voor zeezeilen. Is eigenaar geweest van vele Mean Machine zeiljachten. Van One tonners, Mumm 30 en 36, ILC 40, Farr 40 tot TP52. Mean Machine zeiljachten hadden meestal een zwart romp met fel roze geschilderde vlammen op de boeg. Op Sailing Platform Mean Machine, zoals De Ridder zijn project noemde, heeft veel Nederlands zeiltalent een kans gekregen om haar ambities waar te maken.
In 2006 maakte De Ridder bekend dat hij de mogelijkheden onderzocht voor een Nederlandse deelname aan de Volvo Ocean Race. Maar een jaar later bleek dat er te weinig mede-sponsoren te vinden waren voor het project.
In Augustus 2008 is het Mean Machine Team haar activiteiten gestaakt.
